Many IVF patients turn to alternative medicine and/or nutritional supplements as methods to manage their anxiety and distress, improve their overall health and optimize their IVF outcome.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that alternative medicine practices can be beneficial for some IVF patients, but some practices can also be problematic. A recent randomized controlled study found that the use of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation improved the clinical pregnancy rate among patients with diminished ovarian reserve. But this result also must be confirmed or supported with other similar studies.
